www.theatreinla.com/theatredetail.phpThe Theatre @ Boston Court and Theatre Movement Bazaar present "The Treatment," a world premiere adaptation of Anton Chekhov's short story titled "Ward 6." The play is conceived by Richard Alger + Tina Kronis, written by Alger, directed and choreographed by Kronis. Opening night is Saturday, February 25, 2012 on the Main Stage at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor Avenue.

Regarding this world-premiere adaptation, Co-Artistic Director Jessica Kubzansky said "Boston Court has long been admirers of Richard Alger and Tina Kronis, and the opportunity to collaborate in bringing this new work to life is a real joy. Together we've assembled an amazing design team: Chris Kuhl, the Ovation Award-winning lighting designer for this past season's "How to Disappear Completely..."; sound designer John Zalewski in his tenth production here at Boston Court; and, making their Boston Court debuts, Jeff Webster and Ellen McCartney with scenic and costume designs respectively. This talented team is creating movement-based storytelling like nothing we've seen before on our stage."

Who draws the line between sanity and insanity? In this new work of visceral, movement-based storytelling, a complacent doctor's worldview is upended when he befriends a philosophizing madman in a remote and neglected mental hospital. Chekhov's investigation of people in positions of power and those they hold captive ignites with intense physicality fused with ironic humor, dance and song.

"The Treatment" features Mark Doerr, Jake Eberle, Nich Kauffman, Matt Shea, Jacob Sidney and Mark Skeens. Frederik Hamel and John Wuchte are swings.

Production staff for "The Treatment" includes Kronis, director/choreographer, Jeff Webster, set designer, Chris Kuhl, lighting designer, John Zalewski, sound designer, Ellen McCartney, costume designer, Heather Ho, props designer, Raul Staggs, casting director and Nicole Rossi, production stage manager.

"The Treatment" previews for six performances beginning February 16, opening February 25 and runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through March 25. Preview tickets are priced at $17 and regular performances at $34. Senior, student and group discounts are also available. Tickets can be purchased online at BostonCourt.org or by calling (626) 683-6883. Boston Court Performing Arts Center is located one block north of Colorado at the corner of Mentor Ave. and Boston Ct.
