Green Grow the Lilacs Reviews
Stage Scene LA- Recommended
"...Theatricum's Green Grow The Lilacs succeeds on many levels, not the least of which is illustrating the strength of R&H's source material."

"...While the play is at fault in all its ramblings (and it may well be that no cuttings or changes were allowed by the publishers), director Ellen Geer's attempt at authentic Oklahoma style in 1900 didn't make it."

"...In any case, Riggs' play is a bit strange and doesn't necessarily actually have a denouement per se. But this production ambles amiably and dramatically along where appropriate in a folksy way that WGTB founder, mid-Westerner Will Geer, would likely have felt right at home with " especially as his TV alter ego, Grandpa Walton " and this Lilacs is quite enjoyable."
Cultural Weekly- Recommended
"...So this Lilacs revival is something of a treat, thanks to the al fresco setting, but more significantly because director Ellen Geer has cast the play well, with many well-chosen Botanicum veterans, eclectic musicians and an overall energetic and gifted company."

"...Critics at the time credited Riggs with the creation of a new form; the "folk drama." Theatricum audiences today will enjoy an original piece of American theatre history and feel that much richer for it."
Observations Along the Road- Recommended
"...The directoral team was the same as for the previous day's As You Like It - director Ellen Geer (FB) assisted by Jonathan Blandino/FB, and they did a wonderful job of bringing out the folksy in the characters, as well as the realism. I particularly remember watching the faces of the actors, which were mesmerizing throughout."
