"...Why the Production Company chose Sergel's Sunday-school chestnut to inaugurate their new home at the Lex Theatre, however, remains a mystery. The chief virtue of director T.L. Kolman's by-the-book production (amid designer August Viverito's lamentably clumsy clapboard-facade set pieces) is in allowing the company's versatile stock players to strut their stuff in the play's numerous supporting roles: Ferrell Marshall as the story's wryly astute narrator, Maudie Atkinson; a nuanced Jim Hanna as Maycomb's perspicacious Sheriff Heck Tate; Inda Craig-Galván and Lorenzo T. Hughes' twin portraits of dignity under duress as Calpurnia and Tom Robinson; Skip Pipo being diabolical as inbred bigot Bob Ewell."

"...The first offering in the Production Company's more spacious new venue proves to be a gem. Though Christopher Sergel's 1990 adaptation of Harper Lee's classic novel is imperfect, this rendition flourishes on the strengths of a marvelous ensemble cast and the timeless truths and emotional power of Lee's story. Following an uneven first act, director T L Kolman's production redeems itself in a mesmerizing second half, awash with tense drama, resonantly illuminating Lee's still-relevant themes of social injustice, and her richly atmospheric portrait of life in the 1930s Deep South."

"...Even today, over a half century since its publication, To Kill A Mockingbird remains one of the true classics of 20th Century American literature, possessing the rare quality of being accessible and relevant to readers as young as Scout and as old as Mrs. DuBose. As a history lesson, it shows us how bad things were as well and reminds us of the progress we have made and the work that still needs to be done. Though Sergel's adaptation may not be all that we wish it were, there are countless reasons to catch this The ProdCo production, not the least of which is the inspiration it may provide to reread Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird, or to discover it for the first time."

"...It is said that Harper Lee described the play as "a love story, pure and simple: love for the South, a father's love for his children and their love for him". It is indeed a production of love, amply evident in the effort that T L Kolman and August Viverito have given to the play, coupled with the evident love and devotion that the actors pay to the words of Harper Lee and to the message that it brings. The play is powerful, compelling and gripping and will become a stand out in the long list of The Production Company's successes."
