A New Musical Comedy reimagining Ukrainian playwright, Nikolai Gogol's 19thcentury satire, "The Government Inspector". In TINY LITTLE TOWN, a small town in 1970s America is thrown into chaos when its corrupt bureaucrats mistakenly identify a visiting stranger from Washington D.C. as an incognito Inspector General sent by the Federal Government to investigate their town. The show is a hilarious and timely indictment of corruption and the insecurities of those who maintain their control through deceit and lies.

"...The opening night audience was friendly and ready to laugh, but laughs were scattered and clumpy. The audience reaction, much like the show, never unified. Perhaps the cast will get more relaxed throughout the run. I’ll be interested to see if the work gets revised for future productions. It would be a shame for it not to live up to its strong opening number."

Director Kronis helms the show brilliantly – with her choreography enhancing every one of Alger’s clever lines and keeping perfect pace with music which subtly reminds the audience of the play’s origins. The talented ensemble cast is superb. With nary a misstep, they bumble on in this hilarious tale of mistaken identities and failed machinations. The audience can expect a laugh-a-minute as the clever story unfolds."

"...A physical theater troupe headed by choreographer-director-co-writer Tina Kronis and co-writer Richard Alger, Theater Movement Bazaar (which was birthed in New York City and relocated to LA in 1999) has spent the last quarter century mashing up world classics, crunching up texts and spitting them back via Kronis's arch and often witty choreography. In their sights have been such writers as Tennessee Williams, Anton Chekhov and, in their current offering, Nikolai Gogol. The company could be seen as a descendent of The Wooster Group. In fact, both troupes have goofed off with F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby."

The commedia dell’arte style in the performances, the set design, and the Eastern European music, make it feel like a topsy-turvy dream, an exaggerated and alluring image of our reality.
