The Wedding Singer Reviews
Stage and Cinema- Highly Recommended
"...If you still belt out "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" in your car or secretly miss the days when big hair was in fashion, The Wedding Singer-which opened last night at The Colony Theatre-has your number. This show doesn't flirt with nostalgia-it goes all in, drenched in Aqua Net and straddling a keytar like it's a weapon of mass seduction."
Stage Scene LA- Highly Recommended
"...Los Angeles musical theater doesn’t get any more exciting, tuneful, or sensationally performed than the 100%-local revival of The Wedding Singer now bringing Colony Theatre audiences to their feet with its blend of music, comedy, unabashed romantic and 1980s nostalgia."

"...To appreciate The Wedding Singer - the stage musical adapted from the 1998 film, now playing at The Colony in Burbank - it's best to discount the anti-feminist message that pulsates throughout - the noxious notion that all women covet marriage and view it as the be-all and end-all of their happiness. Admittedly, ignoring this theme is hard to do; it permeates the show, despite the presumed intent of its creators - book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, lyrics by Beguelin, music by Matthew Sklar - to make what happens on stage the subject of satire."
Ticket Holders LA- Highly Recommended
"...What a wonderful surprise. I was understandably reluctant to accept an invitation to review the musical adaptation of the 1998 film The Wedding Singer—which, I have to admit, I’ve never seen. I thought it would be yet another sappy commercially-driven cashcow version of a good old Amur’kin romcom but boy, was I wrong."
Broadway World- Highly Recommended
"...The Wedding Singer is a delightful retro romantic comedy musical at the Colony Theatre in Burbank through June 29th. Confectionary light, with killer choreography and eye-candy 1980s costumes and sets, The Wedding Singer is a big whipped cream dollop of pure joy. This is the story of a struggling musician who plays weddings with his band in 1980s New Jersey and falls in love with a big-hearted waitress - while they both are engaged to the wrong people."
