The Kitchen Witches Reviews

"...That's not to say that the efforts of replacement stars (and courageous troupers) Madeleine Drake and Adriana Bate won't eventually cohere into something more than a cold stumble-through. It's more that it's a pointless injustice to actors, audience and play alike to open a production with its stars still on book and having not yet discovered any rhythms or nuances that might add up to laughs."

"...The Kitchen Witches provides a nifty gender balance to Richard Dresser's (male) odd-couple comedy Rounding Third, running concurrently on the Little Fish stage, adding up to a pair of mid-summer crowd pleasers for San Pedro's intimate theater gem."

"...There are surprises, though not very surprising, and despite all the actors did, the play is still at best a comedy with only a little heart. But it will get better as the principles learn their lines. That is, if the kitchen sink and stage lights behave themselves."

"..."Kitchen Witches" is a comfort food production, a human comedy of frailty, forgiveness, and letting bygones be bygones. It's like that Mason jar of sour dough starter you keep in the fridge for decades. Opened, it may smell like hell, but oh what wondrous creations it can make."

"...Though "Kitchen Witches" is a minor comedy, Little Fish Theatre makes the most of it. The bravery of the performers will undoubtedly be transformed into confidence, once they're certain of their dialogue. Little Fish Theatre is a little company with a big, courageous heart. In spite of all obstacles, the show went on and continues on through August 31."
