The Gospel According to Kinison
1111-b West Olive Ave Burbank
Before becoming a famous comedian, the late Sam Kinison followed in his parents' footsteps and worked as a Pentecostal preacher, as did all three of his brothers. Therefore, it's only fitting that The Gospel According to Kinison, written by Sam's brother Bill, puts the spotlight on Pentecostalism. Performed by Bill himself like a church service with inspiring music by Bill's wife, Sherry Kinison, along with an organist and a small band, this tragicomedy offers an inside look at the Kinison family, religion and evangelists both famous and infamous, such as Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Pat Robertson and others.
