The Blade of Jealousy Reviews
Broadway World- Recommended
"...After two successful readings during the play's development, its world premiere is now taking place at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks through August 26 on Sunday nights at 7pm. At the core of this madcap, farcical comedy is the universal truth that beauty is but skin-deep and it is the heart and soul of a person's character which matters the most."
Stage Scene LA- Not Recommended
"...The Blade Of Jealousy, Henry Ong's contemporary updating of a 17th-century Spanish screwball farce, proves a misfire for the writer of the justly lauded Sweet Karma, a misdirected, overacted, and mostly laugh-free World Premiere now playing Sundays at Sherman Oaks' Whitefire Theatre."

"..."The Blade of Jealousy" is highly entertaining, warmly farcical and brilliantly crafted. Mr Ong is an accomplished playwright and this lovingly recreated play, an homage to a classic, shows us all how firmly connected we all are to our past and how strangely familiar the sixteenth-century writings of a Spanish Baroque Roman Catholic Monk can feel when tweaked and reimagined with respect, integrity and love."
Stage Raw- Somewhat Recommended
"...No one suffers any consequences, which makes the entire tale amusing, but renders the ending bland. All six characters are paired off (willingly or unwillingly) and any deeper message is dispensed with as each couple leaps into marriage without knowing much of anything about their future mate."

"...I can't say there is much of a play here, and Director Denise Blasor doesn't do much to bring one forth. There's a lot of sweetness and a very personal sense that radiates from the cast, so while the evening is mildly amusing it comes across like a private joke among friends."
