Starmites Reviews
LA Splash- Highly Recommended
"...This reviewer had never seen STARMITES before - but was lucky enough to encounter an audience member with extensive experience with the show. He indicated that, of the over one dozen times he saw the show all over the U.S., he felt that the current production was one of the very best. Even with my limited exposure to STARMITES, I found that the production was expertly and professionally done."

"...Starmites might possibly be the least remembered Best Musical Tony nominee of the 1980s, but there’s nothing in the least bit forgettable about Open Fist Theatre Company’s irresistibly entertaining intimate revival of the 1989 Broadway gem."

"...Open Fist in Atwater is full of surprises, not the least of which is this sparkly Broadway Musical: Starmites! It's a 35 year old sort of high school show with broad characters and some sort of a message that is basically, good overcoming evil and all shall be well."

"...In 2023, the demand for nostalgia is higher than ever, Over at the Atwater Village Theatre, the 80s are calling — Open Fist Theatre Company’s production of Starmites, the Tony-nominated musical billed as “a comic book come to life,” has taken the stage with a rock-and-roll-infused sci-fi adventure."
Haines His Way- Recommended
"...The songs range from hard rock to bubblegum pop with some doo wahs thrown in for good measure. Nothing quite sticks with you but is pleasant on the ears while in the ether. Musical director Jan Roper rocks out on keyboards as she leads the on-stage band. Becca Sweitzer has added the dance moves, especially with the standout “The Cruelty Stomp”. Linda Muggeridge had fun with the costumes, especially for the somewhat slutty Banshees. Gavan Wyrick gave great light as did Kurt Vanza with sound. Peterman’s projections are really out-of-this-world state of the art and gives Starmites the comic book look it needs."
