Spamalot Reviews
Stage Scene LA- Highly Recommended
"...Monty Python's Spamalot is back, and the Hollywood Pantages has got it, guaranteeing L.A. audiences not only the wildest, wackiest, and winningest of musical comedy rides but a spectacular new scenic design and even more flashy dancing than the 2005 Broadway original."

"...So funny, so good, so many laughs. If you know Monty Python, you’ll know the British comedy troupe’s 1975 movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” and in “Spamalot,” you get to see it on stage as a musical that garnered several Tony nominations in 2005 and won Best Musical, with book and lyrics by Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez and Idle."

"...The national tour of the 2023 Broadway revival of Monty Python’s Spamalot has galloped into Los Angeles at the Hollywood Pantages, and the musical numbers remain as boisterous, energetic, and gleefully goofy as ever. Unfortunately, the book scenes, largely lifted from the famous dialogue of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, have lost much of their luster in this incarnation."

"...Written by Eric Idle with music by Idle and John Du Prez, the show takes aim at “takes aim at everyone from Jews to gays to the “woke,” to an incontinent commander-in-chief — you name it. For the particularly sensitive, that kind of equal opportunity offensiveness may not land. Others, however, will find the evening a solid hoot."

"...From its opening moments, the tone is set with mischievous abandon. King Arthur, portrayed with commanding humor by Major Attaway, appears without a horse, accompanied instead by his devoted servant Patsy, played with impeccable timing by Blake Segal, who produces the now-iconic clip-clop with two coconut shells. Attaway’s sonorous declaration, “I’m the King,” is instantly punctured by an offstage retort, “You’re not the king, I didn’t vote for you,” triggering a wave of laughter that establishes the evening’s rhythm: playful, interactive, and joyfully irreverent."

"...Monty Python’s Spamalot is a sparkling Tony Award-winning hit musical comedy playing at the Hollywood Pantages through April 12th. Outrageously silly and positively contagious in its deranged fun, Spamalot is quite possibly the best night out you will have all year. Don’t miss this one."
