Pointy Scissors Reviews
Stage Scene LA- Highly Recommended
"...Things go from bad to worse and from hilarious to hilariouser when a nincompoop barber accidentally sticks a pair of pointy scissors into a customer’s ear and then hides the body in the barber shop storeroom in Clara Rodriguez’s nonstop fun fest Pointy Scissors, a Theatre West World Premiere."

"...Both playwright and director Clara Rodriguez, who sets the mayhem in motion, deftly keeps it moving while deepening the personas and relationships among all the characters. It is a funny, engrossing 90-some minutes. Group Rep's supporting designer, Ernest McDaniel, pulls it all together, from set design to lighting and sound effects, with the help of Group Reps' members. My one quibble (and a tiny one) is that the uncredited costuming for both Carlos and Molly seem dressed from the late 60s, while everyone else is situated solidly in the early part of the decade. Of course, I would only know that because I lived through it!"

"...Playwright Clara Rodriguez certainly doesn't hold back in Pointy Scissors, now having its world premiere at Theatre West. Rapid-fire in pace and convoluted, the play is a farce in the truest sense of the word. Rodriguez, who also directs, encourages her actors to heights of excess, while we, deer in the headlights, lie down and allow her careening vehicle run us over."

"...Sometimes you just need something that’s fun, silly, kind-hearted, and murder-y. Clara Rodriguez’s newest play Pointy Scissors feels like a new haircut, making something familiar look fresh and adding a different flavor to it. She dresses up the classic comedy of misunderstanding with a diverse and unique cast of characters that feel truer to life than a play like Clue or the elite class represented in any Agatha Christie story."
