"...Having brought the house down with The Play that Goes Wrong, Mischief Theatre Company has followed up with a delicious offering: Peter Pan Goes Wrong. Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, the play introduces the fictional Cornley Youth Theater to theatergoers and their catastrophic attempt to stage a production of the 1904 J. M. Barrie play, Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up. As the title here more than suggests, it is mayhem on stage, filled with failures from machines, actors, and stagehands. This well-crafted disaster play crash-landed on The Ahmanson stage last Friday as the first stop of its national tour since ending its limited engagement on Broadway."

"...For better or worse, it's human nature to find the misfortune of others amusing. YouTube is filled with videos of people making mistakes or getting hit somewhere unpleasant by a stray ball. The show The Play that Goes Wrong took that premise and ran with it to great success several years ago, and has spawned spinoffs such as Peter Pan Goes Wrong, which is currently running at the Ahmanson. Often sequels are lesser versions of the original production, but thankfully that isn't the case here. I actually enjoyed this show more than the first one - it's energetic, very creative and most importantly, hilarious."

"...Nothing stops the uber-talented creators energizing Mischief, however, and after a triumphant tenancy on Broadway, Peter Pan Goes Wrong reveals itself to be a refreshing addition to this audience-challenged season for LA theatre where, except for cashcow revivals of popular musicals and a plethora of plays determined to remind us what a shithole of a society we live in, has resulted in me spending more time at home than during the pandemic, getting stoned and streaming movies rather than paying a month's rent parking at local venues or clicking on my canister of pepper spray while walking to one of our location-challenged intimate theatres."
