Stella Adler Theater

Los Angeles Artists Theatre in association with Stella Adler-Los Angeles presents CLOSER by Patrick Marber, directed by June Barfield and opening January 28th at the Stella Adler Studio C Theater.

A reflection of post-modern society's current struggle with intimacy and personal identity, CLOSER focuses on four distinct individuals whose lives intertwine through infidelity and retribution in the search for something deeper. Set in London at the end of the millennium and the start of the Computer Age, Marber's dissection of contemporary social life is a revelatory, stinging commentary of our attempt to connect to others through the same technology that only pushes us further apart.

About The Playwright

Patrick Marber was born in London, England and raised in Wimbledon. His career began as a standup comedian and then became a writer and cast member of the Radio Shows On The Hour and Knowing Me, Knowing You, along with the television spinoffs. CLOSER originally opened in 1997 and this too won the Evening Standard award for Best Comedy as well as the Critics' Circle Theatre Awards and Laurence Olivier Awards for Best New Play.
