Absolutely Halloween Returns to Santa Monica Playhouse
Santa Monica Playhouse presents the return of the original holiday-themed Rudie-DeCarlo musical comedy, ABSOLUTELY HALLOWEEN, the heartwarming interactive mini-classic tale of the aptly named "Candy," a sweet young girl who learns some surprising lessons about life, love, laughter and sugar, from a delightful array of zany characters who take her on a magical All Hallows' Eve adventure. Opens Saturday, October 12 for three weekends only!
Audience participation is a key element in all Santa Monica Playhouse Family Theatre presentations, and ABSOLUTELY HALLOWEEN is no exception, as youngsters (and parents, too) aid the denizens of the Halloween World in completing magical spells in no less than five different languages, happily helping to save All Hallows' Eve for yet one more year. As witching hour approaches, participants learn valuable lessons about team spirit, friendship, sharing, making choices and the value of moderation, especially as it relates to treats and sweets. "Writer-director Evelyn Rudie has made a commitment to educate as well as entertain. Much like the highly acclaimed 'Afterschool Specials' on television, she offers not a moral, but character and cultural enrichment instead."

ABSOLUTELY HALLOWEEN, now an audience favorite holiday tradition and back by popular demand, is one in a series of original Rudie-DeCarlo fairy tales that make up the 44-year old award-winning Family Theatre Musical Matinee Series for Kids 2 to 102, cutting across the imaginary generation gap by providing an experience the entire family can enjoy. Directed by Chris DeCarlo, with book, music & lyrics by DeCarlo, Evelyn Rudie & Matthew Wrather, ABSOLUTELY HALLOWEEN features Actors' Repertory Theatre members Sarai Jimenez, Juliet Ladines and Cydne Moore, with special guest appearances by Abby Adams, Elodie Cammarata and Katie Lee. The ingenious costumes are designed by award-winning designer Ashley Hayes, with production design by The Attic Room.
ABSOLUTELY HALLOWEEN plays for three weekends only October 12 - October 27, 2013, Saturdays at 2:00pm and Sundays at 12:30 on the Santa Monica Playhouse Main Stage.
