About Productions and Bootleg Theater present a world premiere multimedia theatrical event "Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe," featuring the songbook of David Hidalgo and Louie Perez of Los Lobos. The show begins previews May 3, with an official opening of May 12, and runs through May 27.

Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe - The songbook of Grammy Award winners David Hidalgo and Louie Perez of Los Lobos drives Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe, a multimedia play with music that takes its title from the group's 1985 rocker "Evangeline." Evangeline...a devoted daughter by day, a Hollywood go-go dancer by night. A journey of self discovery by a young Chicana, whose neighborhood roots and make-believe world collide when she experiences the West Side art scene and the music of the Sunset Strip, is set against the 1968 student walkouts in East L.A. and the fight for equal education and civil rights.

Written by Theresa Chavez, Louie Perez and Rose Portillo and featuring the songbook of David Hidalgo and Louie Perez of Los Lobos, the production is directed by Theresa Chavez and Rose Portillo and stars Karen Anzoategui, Danielle Barbosa, Daniel Chacon, Jorge Diaz, Gina Gomez, Catherine Lidstone, Georgia Reed and Denisse Schwartz.

The creative team also includes musical director Scott Rodarte with the Hidalgo/ Perez songbook played on stage by a live bandwith featured vocalist CAVA and video design by award-winning cinematographer Claudio Rocha. The show is produced by About Productions and Bootleg Theater.

Schedule: Thursdays @ 7 pm*: May 3, 10 (previews), 17, 24, Fridays @ 7 pm*: May 4, 11 (previews), 18, 25, Saturdays @ 7 pm*: May 5 (preview), 12 (opening night), 19, 26**, and Sundays @ 2 pm: May 6 (preview), 13, 20, 27. *Please note early 7 pm curtain time.

In celebration of the premiere run of Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe a "music night" featuring CAVA, Ollin with special guests Little Willie G and Mark Guerrero, and Thee Commons will be presented on Saturday, May 26, immediately following the performance of Evangeline.
