LA's favorite wild holiday tradition is clocking back in for another round of chaos as “Bob’s Holiday Office Party” returns to The Odyssey Theatre December 5 – 21, 2025. Now celebrating nearly three decades of mayhem, this long-running cult comedy has become a must-see staple of the season, drawing diehard fans and curious first-timers who come ready for big laughs, bad decisions and one very memorable night at the office. This year’s engagement, a guest production at the Odyssey, brings the show back to the Westside with its signature blend of small-town scandal, unchecked booze, and sharply drawn characters that feel both outrageous and uncomfortably familiar.

Bob's Holiday Office Party at Odyssey

Set in the cramped insurance office of Bob Finhead in Neuterburg, Iowa (population 382), the play follows Bob as he hosts his annual holiday gathering for the town’s quirkiest residents. The mayor, the sheriff, the local party girl, the minister’s troubled wife, the unapologetically bold farmer twins and other unforgettable visitors drift in and out as the night spirals into hilariously derailed conversations, exposed secrets, shifting alliances and questionable life choices. While the liquor flows and the party veers further off the rails, Bob wrestles with a very real dilemma: stay in his tight-knit but claustrophobic hometown or finally chase his dream of becoming an inventor in the big city. The comedy lands hard, but it’s anchored by the surprisingly warm question at its center—what, and who, really makes a place home?

Part of the fun of “Bob’s Holiday Office Party” is watching a seasoned ensemble push each other to the edge. The 2025 Odyssey run reunites creators and writers Joe Keyes and Rob Elk onstage, joined by returning favorites Mark Fite, Judy Heneghan, Johanna McKay, Peter Breitmayer, Andrea Hutchman, Sirena Irwin and Pat Towne, under the direction of Matt Roth. Their lived-in chemistry and fast-twitch timing give the show its anything-can-happen energy; no two performances feel exactly the same, and the sense of barely controlled chaos is very much the point. Longtime fans will recognize beloved characters and running gags, while newcomers quickly understand why audiences come back year after year.

Irreverent, rowdy and proudly not your Hallmark movie, “Bob’s Holiday Office Party” is perfect for theatregoers who like their Christmas entertainment spiked. It skewers small-town politics, hypocrisy and holiday cheer with equal enthusiasm, yet beneath the raunchy jokes and comic explosions, there’s an unmistakable affection for its misfit community. As a cornerstone of Los Angeles holiday programming and a rare comedy that rewards repeat visits, its 2025 run at The Odyssey Theatre is poised to sell quickly. For LA audiences looking to add a little danger, a lot of laughter and a true local tradition to their December calendar, Bob’s office is open once again.
