Miss Lilly Gets Boned Reviews
Broadway World- Highly Recommended
"...Rarely is there a production of such high quality within such a small space, where all elements (cast, artistic, script, direction) gel-together so well that they form an incredible evening of theatre. Such a rare event is that of Rogue Machine's West Coast premier of Bekah Brunstetter's "Miss Lilly Gets Boned" directed by Robin Larsen."
LA Splash- Recommended
"...Directed by Robin Larsen, MISS LILLY GETS BONED draws some interesting parallels between animal and human. Even after death, that pesky elephant remains a destructive force to be reckoned with. Gifted with a talented cast, MISS LILLY GETS BONED proves to be an entertaining and sometimes intriguing study of people faced with catastrophic challenges. As the play rolls on, however, connections between the two parallel stories begin to blur. Be that as it may, this reviewer still loved that luckless elephant with the big ears and long trunk. He may have been my favorite character in the play."

"...A 35-year-old Sunday School teacher who's saving herself for Hugh Grant. A man who might just be the next best thing to Hugh. A child grieving his mother's recent death. An elephant guilty of murder. A doctor given a week to tame this lethal beast. Stir in a sexually hyperactive younger sister and you've got Bekah Brunstetter's latest theatrical gem, Miss Lilly Gets Boned, freshly revised from its 2010 World Premiere for its 2019 Rogue Machine West Coast debut."

"...Robin Larson's finely tuned direction and an excellent cast mesmerizes the audience as we eventually put the whole scenario together. Tragic and funny; poignant and sad, it's well paced and revelatory. This is a must see for audiences who long for a spiritual and intellectual challenge."
Hollywood Progressive- Highly Recommended
"...Of course, this is in line with existentialist and other types of dramas and comedies. And despite this omission Boned is must-see, essential theatergoing that is for adventurous ticket buyers who enjoy being challenged, amazed and - well - aren't boneheads. But leave the kiddies at home as this highly recommended work of art deals with serious - and absurd - adult subject matter."
Stage Raw- Somewhat Recommended
"...Though the cast is not entirely able to navigate their way out of the plot's pitfalls, they are the greatest advocates for the writing, each playing their characters to a tee. Larisa Oleynick (which children of the '90s will recognize as the title character in The Secret World of Alex Mack) is the quintessential gawky innocent with a lovable spunky side. Nazemzadeh emanates suaveness as Richard. He and Oleynick feed off of each other brilliantly, bringing out the humor in their characters' stereotypes with every discussion and squabble. The same goes for Oleynick and Ames, who is biting and brash as Lara. Amaya is convincing as a confused and traumatized smart aleck kid, and Ladnier is endearing as the sanguine elephant doctor."

"...One transitional element that was a nice touch was the Shadow Puppetry which added context, backstory, and comedic relief between scenes. As a whole "Miss Lily Gets Boned" is a theatrical feat that pulls out all the stops and I do applaud that effort. It will gore you emotionally and split your sides with laughter all within the same scene and for this reason, it is not to be missed."
