La Egoista Reviews
Broadway World- Recommended
"...There is a lot of truth being shared in La Egoista, so even despite its shortcomings, it's a play I hope has a fruitful life after it's California premiere."
LA Splash- Recommended
"...This play will resonate with anyone with siblings while it navigates the often rocky journey which siblings take as they learn to survive each other – and sometimes come to love each other. LA EGOISTA will also appeal to the Latino community, given the characters’ background and history. But it is also a story of two people who rediscover a relationship which they thought was lost. Above all, LA EGOISTA is a character study of two people in crisis – who just happen to be sisters."
Stage Raw- Somewhat Recommended
"...This story of two very different sisters struggling to connect and reawaken childhood bonds is a mixture of stand-up comedy and drama. The approach by playwright Erlina Ortiz is inventive, but the overall presentation fails to ignite."
Glamgical- Recommended
"...Dr. Sicre delivers a creative and less passive play that turns experimental at times, allowing the audience to participate and become more invested in the characters and story. On Friday, this worked out as a hilarious scene in itself. Another interesting aspect of the play is the set (Scenic Design: Stephen Gifford), the downstage is the stage where Josefina performs, while the center upstage becomes the hospital and the sisters’ house."
