Into The Woods Reviews
The Hollywood Reporter- Recommended
"...While Into the Woods is no Sweeney Todd, it remains an entertaining and engaging musical despite its nearly three-hour running time and Lapine's needlessly convoluted book about growing up and confronting the consequences of rash choices. By the time the intermission rolls around the play feels finished, only to have a new conflict arrive in the second act that feels like starting over. Into the Woods is loaded with some of Sondheim's wittiest lyrics as well as achingly beautiful melodies. And even if it's hardly his strongest work, Sondheim on an average day is better than most composers at their best."

"...Productions of "Into the Woods" will come and go, but this one has some real magic behind it."

"...I wish. I wish I weren't so judgmental about a show before it even begins. I wish I could relax and let a director do her magic. As for what follows in this review, I wish you would stop reading here if you don't want to know spoilers about Oregon Shakespeare Festival's production at the Wallis. Buy a ticket and see it with fresh eyes."
Cultural Weekly- Recommended
"...What works well at the Wallis is the marriage of music and mayhem. Sondheim's score, the tie that binds, makes us willing to overlook the parts of the stories that don't quite connect. There is playfulness and enchantment (this word recurs when thinking of this show), greatly enhanced by the tongue-in-cheek and unpretentious approach of director/musical director Amanda Dehnert and her vigorous young company."
