Hairspray: The Broadway Musical at Norris Center for the Performing Arts

Based on John Water's cult classic film, the eight-time Tony award-winning phenomenon is set in 1962 Baltimore, and tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, who has one big dream – to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Dance Show." When she finally wins a spot on the show, she's transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. In balancing her newfound power with her desire for justice, Tracy fights to dethrone the reigning Miss Teen Hairspray, Amber von Tussle, and integrate a television network in the process. The larger‐than‐life production, with its infectious music, show‐stopping dance numbers and uplifting story, is an exciting and heart‐warming theatre experience for audiences of all ages.
