"...the play deliberately traffics in highly underlined hijinks, which the production emphasizes in a determinedly broad style that seems utterly Broadway in pitch. This is not tempered by the massive size of the Ahmanson, though the scale does manage to suit the house's dimensions. The actors, who doubtless are exploring new dimensions after a long run, skillfully register a lot of shadings, though better in repose than in the posturings, which suits the author's intentions well"

"...The acting is first rate and I felt lucky to be able to see this original cast. Marsha Gay Harden was a tigress when she showed her fangs. Gandolfini didn't disappoint as he was allowed to get belligerent ala Tony Soprano with the guns. Jeff Daniels is the epitome of the self-absorbed businessman only concerned with his work. Hope Daniels is the picture of the put upon wife and mother and one doesn't blame her for vomiting all over the living room."
