The #MeToo movement meets cancel culture in Do You Feel Anger?, a truly outrageous comedy that The New York Times calls “ingenious,” “inspired” and “flat-out hilarious.” When Sofia is hired as an empathy coach at a debt collection agency, she finds she has her work cut out for her. These employees can barely identify what an emotion is, much less practice deep, radical compassion for others. As they painstakingly stumble towards enlightenment, someone keeps mugging Eva in the kitchen, and the unspoken dynamics of their seemingly blithe workplace culture become increasingly unsettling.

"...Congratulations to a cast who seem committed to bringing this tale to life – even if the shriek level is often significantly elevated – with a special bow to Rose Portillo, who does a gentle and effective job of conveying Sofia’s mom, a lonely and frustrated parent. Humor is somewhat uneven, and at times it appeared that the crew couldn’t decide whether to go for laughs or tears. This is definitely a show for the millennials among us; and they will probably appreciate much of the humor. For this reviewer, it felt almost as if one sane person was thrown into the snake pit and came out bruised but maybe a little wiser."

"...Director Halena Kays gets high-energy work from her talented cast and adroitly achieves the tricky balance between humor and disquiet that the play requires. François-Pierre Couture’s set design features a surprising reveal, and the lighting design from Couture and Stephen Azua – especially a fluorescent series of spotlights at scene breaks – adds to the feeling of something being wrong at the debt company. Nelson-Greenberg’s writing essays the tightrope of this play so well that one is disarmed by the broad humor, until there’s a moment toward the end where we remember that none of this is funny. At that point in the production, I could palpably feel everyone around me in the audience thinking about how the issues brought up in this play were reflected in their own lives, and it was powerful and sobering. A lot of people know what it’s like to be hunted."
