"...Everything about the show is brisk. The dizzying pacing, the litany of hapless jokes, the all-out slapstick and the familiar shtick. Even when the cast members are running in place to simulate a chase, there is a gust of frenzy."

"...As a kid, I never played the Hasbro board game Clue, nor did I ever see the Paramount Pictures movie based on that board game. But at opening night on July 31, I was absolutely wowed by the sensational national touring production of Clue at The Ahmanson Theatre, on stage through August 25."

"...Audiences craving a cure for the summertime blues need look no further than Clue, eighty minutes of nonstop whodunit hilarity presented Live On Stage at the Ahmanson."

"...It’s fast, it’s funny and very physical. The whole show is minutely choreographed with lots of over-the-top reactions, double-takes, frozen moments and intricate, dance-like blocking. John Shartzer as Mr. Green, in particular, pulls off some marvelous physical sight gags. While everyone on stage is giving the performance of their life, Mark Price as Wadsworth probably has the most challenging and energetic job of all, giving a superb performance as the increasingly exasperated butler trying to keep it all together. OR IS HE?!"

"...The most entertaining performance to watch comes from John Shartzer, obviously the secret lovechild of Jim Carrey and Imogene Coca, who plays a closeted Republican lobbyist, a guy more nervous than Dotard Donnie thinking about debating Kamala. Shartzer’s terminally jumpy Mr. Green seems even less concerned about being outed as a homosexual than being blackmailed for failing to vote for Eisenhower."

"...I loved, loved, loved this show at the Ahmanson! It’s the perfect entertainment. For once, I have not even one negative thing to say! Everyone who needs (or just enjoys) a good laugh must see it!"

"...Clue, the play, captures the spirit and look of the original Hasbro game more than the 1985 film, particularly with its set design by Lee Savage and costume design by Jen Caprio. Each set feels like stepping into a different room; elegant flats and turntables transition smoothly, revolving to reveal hidden secrets. These seamless transitions allow the play to run at breakneck speed, which is perfect for this blend of dark comedy and physical humor. It feels very much like a recreation of the classic Scooby-Doo hallway chase at times, with well-coordinated entries and exits."

"...Filled with puns and pratfalls, mugging, and mannerisms, the energy never flags for the show’s brisk 75-minute runtime. Written by Sandy Rustin, based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn, with additional material by Hunter Foster and Eric Price, it is broad camp, laugh-out-loud funny, and absolutely joyous. The film is hysterical but experiencing the zaniness in person is a whole different level of lunacy and the audience on opening night was there for it. Clearly there was great love for the film and the enthusiasm was contagious."
