This Is Our Youth at Raven Playhouse

Set in 1982. This Is Our Youth follows: Warren, 19, who's just stolen fifteen grand from his rich, abusive father; Dennis, his drug-dealing friend who is prepared to put the stolen money to good use; and Jessica, the girl. (More than that, the girl Warren wants.) In Dennis' Upper West Side apartment, we'll watch as their lives weave together, apart, and back together again over the course of forty-eight hours. Though the piece takes place in 1982, under the thoughtful, sensitive direction of Summer Slim the themes examined in this piece feel timeless.To quote Kenneth Lonergan, Warren, Dennis, and Jessica are "full of ideals with nowhere to put them. The issues that you face at that age transcend what's going on in the world." The piece bypasses nostalgia and aims to connect audiences young and old as they watch and experience, yet again, what it feels like to be on the brink of adulthood with a great big world ready to eat you up.
