Mod meets Bard in These Paper Bullets!, a riff on Shakespeare's randy tale Much Ado About Nothing set to the British music invasion of the swinging '60s. There is much ado about everything when the Quartos come to town. These four lads from Liverpool arrive to wow and woo the ladies of London, but with all the mischief and merriment of Shakespeare's original, true love makes fools of them all. Grammy-winning Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, Pulitzer Prize finalist Rolin Jones and acclaimed director Jackson Gay keep the biting wit and clever wordplay of this classic play, infusing it with a serious backbeat.

"..."These Paper Bullets!" might not have much emotional depth (Bea and Ben might want to hold out for Internet dating), but it has tremendous fizziness. The production, directed by Jackson Gay on a revolving set by Michael Yeargan that at times seems a bit cramped on the Geffen's stage, is always in delirious motion."

"...But this highly skilled, highly schooled cast doesn't need costuming to create a feel that is Shakespearean and swinging. Iambs come crisply from their mouths-witness the ample spit on each plosive. Emotions, at least for the characters with emotions, come ragingly from their souls. Pratfalls, commedia gags, and frug-like dance moves overflow their bodies."
