The English Bride Reviews
Los Angeles Times- Recommended
"...In a well-paced staging, director Marya Mazor boldly addresses the vagaries of her material. Kaitlyn Pietras' striking projection design ably delineates the shifting milieus, as does Pablo Santiago's lighting and John Zalewski's sound. Schub and Wasserman are well-matched antagonists, but the standout among the cast is the marvelous Knowelden, whose Eileen is as amusing as she is appallingly oblivious."

"...The actors bring plenty of gravitas to the tale, in their separate and accurate accents, all playing off each other to build the suspense and understanding of the situation, thus earning the gratification from us. This is a terrific night at the theatre."

"...The audience is challenged to find the finesse between the weak and the brash, to make sense of seemingly whirlwind romances that appear to be true love. The English Bride is proof that the Road Theatre Company continues to bring new theatre to the LA community for all generations."

"...As an acting exercise, the piece moves along well. These actors have professional credentials. The nagging question is, what makes this a theatrical to spend an evening with? Director Mazor says that it's about the "questions of truth and storytelling…" Neither held much interest for me."

"...A successful staging of "The English Bride" must include a convincing love affair between Ali and Eileen. Without that, we lose interest in the rest of the story. Director Marya Mazor has done her work well. Whether rolling on the floor in a sexy embrace, effortlessly flirting, or planning their future, these two truly seem meant for each other."

"...Directed with brilliant intensity by Marya Mazor, with superlative performances by Elizabeth Knowelden as the naïve Eileen, Steven Schub as the devious Ali, and Allan Wasserman as the enigmatic investigator Dov. Set design is by Kaitlyn Pietras, lighting by Pablo Santiago, sound by John Zalewski and costumes by Sarah Ryung Clement. Produced by Chet Grissom, Carlyle King, and Kevin Shipp."
