Dreams Of The Washer King Reviews
Dreams Of The Washer King

"...Blurring time and reality, "Dreams" is part memory play, part murder mystery and part psychological suspense thriller. It requires delicate handling, and Barron has assembled just the "dream" cast for the job -– exceptional performers whose poignant portrayals are beacons in the murk. They alone are well worth seeing."

"...Wall begins dropping hints as to his master plan in the first scene, tantalizing bits that hook you in and keep you curious through intermission. The problem, however, is the second half shies away from the shocking reveal that closes the first act, and what was an unusual and interesting buildup falls flat in a series of messy scenes that stop and start jerkily. Unfortunately, Wall and director Andre Barron didn't consider the limitations of the theater - this would play out more gracefully on-screen. Still, there's promise here, especially with a reworking of the second act and a more tightly defined identity."

"...Directed by Andre Barron and written by Christopher Wall, the play had many gripping moments, and the story was intense, but at times confusing, and a bit slow. There were several moments when it could have ended – and indeed, the audience started clapping believing that it had concluded - when in fact, it continued on."

"... This dark drama could have been told as a direct linear story and still been effective. But, Wall chose have his drama unfold as a non-linear story which serves to heighten the mystery and suspense. One is not sure quite sure of the sequence of events. But, the result is a brilliant play which Andre Barron directs with great sensitivity. The story, though it meanders in and out of sequential time, is tight and well crafted. Barron's direction brings great performances from all four of his actors and brings out the tension found in the script."
