"...There's nothing by the numbers about "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally," which follows neither the rules of dramaturgy nor morality. It's impossible to predict how the story will unfold. Armento's language has a rhythmic vibrancy that creates its own universe, which is accentuated by Smith's nifty sound design. But it's Piper's invigorating incarnation of an eager-to-please phone, a computerized buddy as helpful as it is ultimately helpless, that powers the production."

"...Piper offers a fluid, cadenced delivery that can be likened to a drummer riffing while he accents the salient points of his narrative with verbal rim shots. It is an impressive display of vocal dexterity. Director Richards, while mounting a stage work of near stunning virtuosity, has managed to house Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally in a minimalist intellectual casing that reduces the range and viability of the story being told."

"...With the story so difficult to follow for most of the 75-minute monologue, I do have the following questions that perhaps those of you who see it can answer for me. Are Red and his teacher having an affair? Was she pregnant and by whom - her estranged husband or Red? Did she choose to take herself out of the way and leave town without letting anyone know where she was going on how long she will be gone? Had I been able to follow along and not be overwhelmed intellectually by so much of it, I think the play would have been much more interesting."
