"...Written in the boom years following World War II, Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" issued a clarion warning against the pitfalls of untrammeled capitalism. In most of his works, Miller had a message to impart and an ax to grind, and "Sons" is no exception. But aside from its somewhat obvious socialist message, "Sons" remains an intricately plotted, beautifully well-crafted drama with the heft and humanism of Greek tragedy."

"...Director Edward Edwards stages his intimate and psychologically nuanced production almost like a mystery -- even during the play's seemingly banter-filled opening scenes, we sense an underlying unease and sadness; the puzzle is spotting all the clues and then piecing them together to understand what is really going on. Edwards' production is anchored by crackling acting work."

"...Trust me, there is plenty wrong with this production, I'll get to that in a moment. I'm a critic, it's my job. But despite all that, the power of Mr. Miller's play shines through like a blinding light and that is ultimately all that matters. A lot, but not all, of the credit for the communication of that power goes to Dominic Competatore, who plays Chris Keller. Yes, he's a bit too Italian to be playing someone named Keller, but his performance is so fully realized that trivial matters like that don't matter."

"...Emmanuel Ax brought new life to Brahms Concerto No. 2 last week at the Hollywood Bowl. Should you then refuse to see the piece with another pianist' Of course not. Arthur Miller's All My Sons, which received an astounding rendering recently at the Raven, deserves to be seen in the revival currently on the boards at The Ruskin Group Theatre. It comes highly recommended, even though there may not be any earth-shattering or ground-breaking innovations (save a quick opening moment). Even if you've seen this classic play before, you would do well to go back; it still packs a punch."

"...The aftershocks are keenly felt in Edward Edwards' direction with a cast that resonates as it conveys the crushing weight of each carefully discovered revelation. There are not any licenses taken in this straightforward, if not determinedly exacting production. It runs as smoothly as a well-oiled machine. The pace strikes a perfect balance between measured and frenzied without losing control of either. Stripped down to its raw essentials, this cast delivers with finely felt nuanced feeling kept just under the surface until the final, hair-triggering denouement."

"...A play of this intensity requires the utmost of acting and directorial skills, but alas under the direction of Edward Edwards, this production does not offer much more than line readings with most of the actors dropping their voices at the end of each line severing any possible connection between the characters. Transitions were sloppy lacking the necessary moment-to-moment reality that supports the flow of the material and it seemed obvious that most of the actors did not develop their "back stories," or the unseen part of their characters that contributes to creating fully actualized human beings living in a specific set of circumstances. Although there were some emotional moments toward the end of Act II between Chris and his dad, they were not enough to save this production."

"...This absolutely brilliant piece of writing has made a welcome return to the Southland in a production at Santa Monica's Ruskin Group Theatre that is about as fine as they come, blessed by the inspired direction of Edward Edwards, brilliant lead performances, and splendid supporting turns all around."

"...Edward Edwards' production of Miller's arguably best work shows the nuances of words unsaid, giving us a glimpse into the private lives of Miller's characters by providing subtle hints about how they interpret each other's speeches."

"...Director Edwards and his cast create an unbelievably real experience where the audience is left haunted as what seems to be real life unfolds right in front of them."
