A play about intimacy, truth, courage…And phone sex!The wife of a Hollywood producer languishes in quiet desperation with her husband. The son of an Arizona welfare recipient and recovering alcoholic fights in turbulent confrontation with his mother. Both are recluses. Then, one day, fate intervenes and brings this unlikely pair together. Samantha works as a "model" for a phone sex service. Toby becomes a patron. As these two become closer, we learn the secrets that have fettered their lives…and explore the unexpressed desires and fantasies that each harbors.

"...Robert Lawrence Nelson's melodrama about two lonely people finding a connection disappoints on almost all fronts. While the performances from the two leads - Julie Dolan as Samantha and Chad Addison as Toby - are solid, with both actors plumbing some complicated emotional depths, the production as a whole fails to ignite. That's because its sodden storyline lands like a wet blanket."

Though the characters are vividly conceived, and well served by this cast, there's sometimes a sense of sluggishness and lack of narrative drive within the script. This work sometimes suggests the framework for a one-act play, stretched out to a full-length offering."

"...This play is brave and a challenge to watch at times, but it certainly does not turn away from the difficult and the heartbreaking and the totally unprepared for chapters of our lives that define us.I highly recommend "Connect"� at The NoHo Arts Center, but fair warning, this is a very adult play, addressing very adult themes, so no kids!!"
