A Small Fire at Atwater Village Theatre

Praised as "raucous, funny and unexpectedly touching" by The New York Times during its off-Broadway run, A Small Fire centers around John and Emily Bridges, a long-married couple whose happy lives are upended when tough-as-nails contractor Emily is suddenly overcome by a mysterious, debilitating disease. As this once self-assured and successful woman's senses -- smell, taste, hearing and sight -- are slowly stripped away, she finds herself completely dependent on the husband whose endless devotions she's always taken for granted. A story of love, loyalty and the complexity of enduring bonds, A Small Fire is a powerful play that received a 2011 nomination for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play. This production by Echo Theater Company is presented at the Atwater Village Theatre.
