Welcome To The White Room

Theatre of NOTE
1517 N. Cahuenga Blvd. Hollywood

In Welcome To The White Room, we discover Ms. White, Mr. Paine, and Jennings shortly after they have arrived in a completely white room, following their journey within as they attempt to figure out exactly what they are meant to do. There are the letters that only Ms. White can read. There is the arrival of The Last Deck of Cards in the World. There are The Three Devices. There is the constant advancement of the levels. Somewhere between throwing a party, suppressing sexual tensions, and dancing a violent tango, this senseless world summons its puppeteer. And our three puppets are in for a big surprise.

Broadway World - Recommended

"...All the actors do commendable jobs with their roles, making each an interesting conundrum to try and figure out. After donning an incredibly sexy red dress (thank you costumer Sarah Figoten Wilson who sticks with a white, black and red theme) which arrives through the door slot, Marcks and Gardner, and then Marcks and Uy, dance seductive tangos thanks to dance choreography by Nancy Dobbs Owen, perhaps representing the woman Patrick desires but can never obtain. Lighting effects by Rebecca Raines seem to enhance many different elements from Patrick's mind being thrown into the mix before he arrives."

Stage Scene LA - Somewhat Recommended

"...Theatre Of NOTE welcomes a generation raised on virtual reality to Theater Of The Absurd with the West Coast Premiere of Trish Harnetiaux's overly cryptic but still mostly quite engaging Welcome To The White Room."

ArtsInLA - Recommended

"...D irector Megan A. McGuane and her charges wring just about every conceivable action from this setting and Harnetiaux’s script. Intentionally clipped dialogue, particularly at the onset, is delivered with a practically perfect staccato further augmenting these characters and the puzzle-like quandary they face. McGuane keeps this extended one-act moving at a pace that neither dulls the senses nor hurtles past her audience’s ability to keep up."

Stage Raw - Somewhat Recommended

"...Director Megan McGuane delivers a stylish and often amusing production, and the actors perform with precision and style. Reuben Uy is particularly appealing. He somehow lends the mysterious Patrick real charm, despite the fact that compared to the others, he has little stage time."
