A Little Night Music is a hilariously witty and heartbreakingly moving musical full of moments of adoration, regret and desire. Set in 1901 Sweden, it explores the tangled web of affairs centered around actress, Desiree Armfeldt, and the men who love her: a lawyer by the name of Fredrik Egerman and the Count Carl-Magnus Malcom. When the traveling actress performs in Fredrik's town, the estranged lovers' passion rekindles. This strikes a flurry of jealousy and suspicion between Desiree; Fredrik; Fredrick's wife, Anne; Desiree's current lover, the Count; and the Count's wife, Charlotte. Both men - as well as their jealous wives - agree to join Desiree and her family for a weekend in the country at Desiree's mother's estate. With everyone in one place, infinite possibilities of new romances and second chances bring endless surprises. Our new production offers an intimate and fresh take on this dramatic musical celebration of love and life featuring Stephen Sondheim's brilliant score, including his haunting masterpiece "Send in the Clowns."

"...Bright and invigorating each beautifully-played melody filled the Greenway Court Theatre with much-needed positive energy that audiences have been longing for throughout the forced 2020-21 theater closures. Michael Mullen's costuming and Chadd McMillan's wigs insert colorful spectacle into the quiet visual tableau of EK Dagenfield's set design, further enhanced by Donny Jackson's lighting. The ensemble singing cast is vocally magnificent and main actors mostly hit their marks throughout the show with a stand out vocal performance by Alexa Rosengaus (She/Her) as Petra the maid as well as a genuinely fun Christopher Robert Smith (He/Him) as Count Carl Magnus and Catherine Wadkins who sings a subtle almost spoken, "Send In The Clowns". Further kudos go to Zoe Bright as a snappy Madame Armfeldt who delivers some quippy dialog with effect."

All set to perform in 2020, a little thing called the pandemic shut down A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC and every other theater production for almost two years. It's time to celebrate the return of live theater - and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is the perfect way to do that. By the way, the Greenway Court Theatre currently has all the CDC recommended safety cautions in place, including proof of vaccination and masks worn by all audience members during the performance."
