It's May 7, 1901. Life has begun in Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. Milk is being delivered. Breakfast is on the stove. We meet the town gossips, the boys who play baseball and the choirmaster with a secret sorrow. And soon teenagers George Gibbs and Emily Webb will go from friends to puppy love to wedding day and beyond-two families forever joined together. And as they come to terms with the meaning of their lives, this Pulitzer Prize-winning American classic beautifully celebrates our own shared humanity.

"...This year marks the 125th anniversary of Thornton Wilder's birth. As part of the Wilder125 celebration, about 150 productions of the esteemed writer's plays are being staged worldwide, including a revival of The Skin of Our Teeth on Broadway. This week, I had the privilege of seeing what's arguably Wilder's most famous work - Our Town - at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California. It was a pleasant reminder of why this 1938 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama (written by Wilder in his early 40s) remains one of the most produced plays of all time."

"...It may seem like nothing much happens in Thornton Wilder's most important work, Our Town. It is a play, after all, about ordinary people living ordinary lives. But the 1938 Pulitzer Prize winner is quietly deep and profoundly moving. Edward Albee once described Wilder's play as "the greatest American play ever written." South Coast Repertory's incarnation of the timeless classic, directed by Beth Lopes, is endearing and heartfelt, though uneven."
