Not/Now is a dark comedy where a group of friends in Chicago plan to celebrate the engagement of their friend who has returned home from Los Angeles. They quickly discover a simple error in a text message throws the night into chaos where secrets and opinions are revealed forcing them to discover who they are not and who they are now.

"...The world premiere of playwright Darrin Yalacki's NOT/NOW brings together four thirtysomething friends in Chicago to commemorate the engagement of the fifth member of their quintet - Goldie (Karen Baughn), who is in from LA - only to find that, due to an unfortunate autocorrect, Goldie is still painfully single after a very public breakup. As the reunion turns from celebratory to sympathetic, confidences are forsaken and friendships are fractured forever. Akin to The First Deep Breath, now running at the Geffen, and Tracy Letts' five-time Tony-winning August: Osage County, NOT/NOW shines a light on the different fissures of a family and how both secrets and truths can leave jagged scars."

"...The play is an excellent picture of human interaction—scathing, cruel, but deeply compassionate at the end. Despite some actors stumbling a bit over the dialogue, the cast delivered a fantastic performance to a sold-out show on Sunday. James Singleton as Baker and Mason Eaglin as Jack offer outstanding performances as the openly gay friend and the ambiguous stripper respectively. Something interesting to point out is that director Amanda Blake Davis and actor Oscar Ramirez both trained in Second City, a fact that is evident in the directing and acting of both professionals."
