Love and Information Reviews
Stage and Cinema- Not Recommended
"...That Love and Information received many positive reviews after its 2012 debut is puzzling. It’s not a great script. Perhaps artsy elites want to pretend they “get it.” Or maybe having Churchill’s name attached unnecessarily upped its importance. It’s likely, I believe, that past productions were presented with much more directorial clarity. That all said, maybe it’s me who simply doesn’t “get it.” Okay, fine; that doesn’t change my experience with this particular production. Regardless of all of this, however, the work, I predict, is unlikely to bring newbies into the theater. If it does, it could pose as a deterrent in bringing them back. I don’t say this to prevent theaters from tackling experimental work; I wish more theaters did."

"...LOVE AND INFORMATION is a fascinating look at the multiple issues which people in today’s data-intensive world must face. At times, this is a crazy-making situation. At other times, it is an opportunity to learn and evolve. But – regardless of outcome – it is always a conundrum which must be tackled. This is a very here-and-now show which offers lots of questions – but few answers. Perhaps it is the audience who must supply the solutions."

"...Eight actors play over a hundred characters in four dozen mostly comedic vignettes over the course of a briskly moving seventy-five minutes in Caryl Churchill's Love and Information, the provocative, mind-blowing latest from Antaeus Theatre Company."

"...To call Churchill's work flourishing may be a stretch, but this challenging theatre piece is, at once: painting in broad strokes, allowing the audience to absorb the 'information' and then, in intimate moments, finding the 'love'. ."

"...Whether this dazzling production (or simulation) of Love and Information delights or confounds, staging it more than decade after its first premiere gives us a precious opportunity for reflection. Amidst all the clamor about intimacy, technology, and directions we’re headed, where might we find more quiet moments of truth?"

"...It’s rather ironic that Churchill wrote Love and Information almost a dozen years ago and yet was somehow able to see clearly into the future and understand how technology would further both compliment and complicate our lives, how it would energize our existence and bring us together in our infinite electronic cyberland, and how often it would leave us more lonely and swamped by the scattered complexities of contemporary life than ever."
Glamgical- Highly Recommended
"...The eight actors deliver outstanding performances using movement and dialogue to enhance the meaning of the play. And of course, the brilliant direction by Emily Chase, whose cast choices and organization of the scenes and blocking achieve a powerful and emotional performance."
