It's Only A Play

Morgan-Wixson Theatre
2627 Pico Blvd. Santa Monica

Written by four-time Tony winner Terrence McNally (Ragtime), this backstage comedy is a satirical send-up of show business and its often-eccentric practitioners. Taking place at an opening-night party, the frazzled playwright stresses over whether his play will be a success. The irreverent farce “about the comedy of Broadway” at Santa Monica’s Morgan-Wixson Theatre is alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender.

"...Justin Heller commands the stage as the frantic and furiously self-absorbed director Frank Finger, especially during his major breakdown when he rants his wave back and froth across the stage! And just wait until Peter, Ira and James get into their own male ego battles, with each trying to promote their respective skills amid multiple attacks from the sequestered group."
