"... It's a strong adaptation, making sense of her characters' needs. However, it starts off unnecessarily slow, and, with a full running time of two hours and, aside from Mendoza, the pace and cue pickup of the other actors is equally time-consuming. Whether it's due to the budget constraints that the actors' union, AEA, has unjustly placed on Los Angeles theater, or in an attempt by the producers to add to their respectable outreach to their Latinx neighbors, it places them in an unhappy position of trying to be as professional as possible, but undercutting it by using amateur actors. However well intended, the end result is less than desirable."
