Dreamgirls follows an all-girl black singing trio from Chicago called "The Dreams" on their rise to stardom. As The Dreams' fortunes rise (and fall), their story exposes the behind-the-scenes reality of the entertainment industry. At first, everything seems to be going great -- the Dreams are making it big and lead singer Ellie is finding love with their manager. As time goes by, personal conflicts threaten to break up the group.
