Dad. The Dog. The Roof. explores fragmented memories, returning home and our shifting relationship to memories of home. Part ritual, part meditation and part meta-theatrical performance, the work addresses the home as a container. The exterior of homes, like containers, are facades to contextualize and hide the contents found within. What if we packed away our memories of home in the containers we pack our homes in? And what happens when we ritualize the unpacking of those memories through forced performance? The characters might be seeking atonement; they might be seeking entertainment; they are probably just seeking. Be there as five performers make their way through the fragmentation with aggressive physical theatre, stillness and an elevated utilitarian approach to object work at Highways Performance Space and Gallery in Santa Monica.
