Stage Scene LA - Highly Recommended

"...Little Miss Sunshine hopefuls could learn a thing or two from the Texas-based partners (business and otherwise) who coach preschool pixies to beauty pageant stardom in Matthew Wilkas and Mark Setlock's Born To Win, the outrageously funny latest from Celebration Theatre."

"...As is to be expected from a show at Celebration, and one directed by Mr. Matthews, the acting is first-rate. Mr. Droege and Mr. Wilkas are waaaay over the top - to call them flamboyant would be a gross understatement - but that's just what the play calls for. They're terribly funny, both as Bobby and Bob, and, in totally different ways, as Buddy and Gunnar."

"...Expect to see some incredible ensemble work that features a quartet of actors-each rocking the best (and trashiest) Southern Accents that are so 'ripe' you could cut through each one with a Texas chainsaw! They also look like they're all having an awesome time up on the "Celebration's" stage, so we in the audience have even more fun watching them! Essentially, they also bestow on us twice the delight-because just about all of the performers double at some time throughout the on-stage goings-on."

Peoples World - Highly Recommended

"...Born to Win is a winner indeed, with nary a dull moment in its 100 minutes of action. Trample over people, if you have to, to see it! If you want to read it that way, you could even start questioning whether America really needs more “winners” and “losers”—standard vocabulary for the guy who came in second in the last presidential popular vote. Maybe we need to come up with some other principles to live and govern by so that most of us get most of what we want out of life instead of always being in competition with one another. Sorry for the preaching, but I think that’s inherent in the play and, in any case, isn’t that what you want to hear from a People’s World critic?"
