2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd Los Angeles

A new play with much music, influenced by the golden era of Hollywood musicals, from Irish writer/performer Pat Kinevane and the team that previously brought Forgotten, Underneath and the Olivier Award-winning Silent to the Odyssey. Inside Clery’s of Dublin, on the very day this iconic department store shuts for good, Pontius is trying to choose a gift for his estranged daughter, whom he hasn’t seen for almost 20 years. Stage Raw - Somewhat Recommended

"...As Pontius, Pat Kinevane can't escape his own talents. Even though the character is a self-described simple Irish farmer, Kinevane always moves with a dancer's grace and delicacy. For all his jokes about the corniness of musical theatre, Kinevane is at his most sincere when he's dancing. It is the overwrought monologues that feel affected and forced. Even with all of Pontius's backstory, winks to the audience, and stunning dance combinations, he always feels out of reach, a performer rather than a person."

Accessibly Live Off-Line - Recommended

"...What makes this show unique is its title. Pat Kinevane carries right on through through its ninety minute running time. And if there is to be a sequel, that title could be known as During followed with After. For the moment, it's BEFORE, and it's "now"!"

Theatre Notes - Highly Recommended

"...Mr. Kinevane is also a superb dancer who exhibits a broad catalog of movement choreographed by Emma O'Kane, and, in a show like this, a de rigueur bit of tap. Kinevane displays a complete, perfect mastery of his actor's instrument-mind, body and voice-employed in the telling of a tale. He is a wonder of indefatigable energy powering through the ninety-minutes or so of a classical performance that has tragedy and comedy, pathos and joy. The crowd at Odyssey rose instantly at the end, applauded long and loud demanding he return twice for more until he finally fled behind a curtain with a joyous smile on his face."
