Arsenic and Old Lace

Arsenic and Old Lace

Long Beach Playhouse
5021 E. Anaheim St. Long Beach

Ah, families. Everyone thinks theirs is crazy, but it'd be hard to out-crazy Mortimer Brewster's relatives. One brother thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, the other is a homicidal maniac who's had plastic surgery to look like Boris Karloff. And his two sweet spinster aunts? Well, they poison lonely old men and bury them in the basement. The play of, course, is Arsenic and Old Lace, the farcical black comedy classic (later a movie starring Cary Grant) that paved the way for the likes of the Coen brothers, Quentin Tarantino and every other writer who's dared to spike their comedy with a dose of murder. But there's nothing like seeing these macabre shenanigans play out on stage, so come out to the Long Beach Playhouse -- and settle in for a killer classic comedy.
