Train to Zakopane
2437 Main St. Santa Monica
Based on true events in playwright Henry Jaglom's father's life, Train to Zakopane uncovers humanity in -- of all places -- prejudice. It's 1928, and a successful Russian businessman is crossing Poland on a train during a time of extreme anti-Semitism. So when he meets an enchanting young nurse in the Polish army on this same train, and discovers that not only is she also taken with him but is a fierce anti-Semite, he must decide whether or not to reveal that he's Jewish. He must also choose whether to side with love or hate, finding within himself either a deep well of compassion or intolerance.Train to Zakopane is an intimate exploration of the human condition at Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica.
