"...Solid stagecraft, tautly quirky writing and crackerjack acting distinguish this compelling Los Angeles premiere of playwright Sharr White's celebrated 2013 study of a neurologist who may be descending into dementia."

"...Trust nothing you see or hear until about halfway through the riveting, complex puzzle that is Sharr White's The Other Place, now getting its first Los Angeles production, and a superb one at that, at North Hollywood's 99-seat-plan Road Theatre."

"..."The Other Place" delves into the thinking process and the place where all the pieces fit in a bravura piece of sophisticated storytelling."

"...Simply put, Gilbert and Anderson share onstage moments together in The Other Place that are nothing short of magic, a testament to what can be achieved when two such exceptional artists bring this selfless kind of commitment and collaboration to the telling of a story. Gilbert and Anderson could be poster-children for how important it is for actors to spontaneously bounce off each other with total trust."

"...There are subplots within subplots in this play and Andre Barron has directed his principals exquisitely. As he does with The Woman (Danielle Stephens) and The Man (Dirk Etchison) who each play multiple parts."

"...But even this combination of talent can't overcome the problems in the final third of the play, which begins with an overwritten scene set in "the other place," a house on Cape Cod which had long been in Juliana's family, but which was sold some time ago. This flat-footed – and long – scene is not only obvious, but also introduces a new character, who, with her own overstuffed drama, threatens to wrestle our attention away from Juliana. The house of cards finally collapses in on itself completely in the final moments of the play which, remarkably and lamentably, manage to be both elliptical and trite at the same time: maybe there's hope for Juliana, and OMG, now we know who the girl in the yellow bikini is! So much care and love and talent is on display here – one wishes it had been lavished on something more satisfying."
