What's more important to France than love? Great food! Composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) teamed with playwright Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof) for the The Baker's Wife, a romantic musical comedy about a baker in a small French town in the '30s. When the baker's young wife leaves him, he can no longer bring himself to bake the delicious bread the town can't get enough of. Now the local misfits have to join forces to get the couple back together. Best known for its oft-covered song "Meadowlark," The Baker's Wife was nominated for an Olivier Award for Musical of the Year in its original London run, and has been called an "affecting miniature masterpiece" (London's The Stage).
