"...Not a scintillating musical by any means, "Sister Act" offers generic exuberance for a sultry summer night when a groove and a giggle are all that's required to send audiences home smiling."

"...It's hardly a groundbreaking work that lingers, but it's a fun ride while it lasts."

"...No, I won't claim that Sister Act, at the Pantages in Hollywood, is a classic. Let's wait a few decades before we consider that. But this musical version of the movie comedy is one of the funniest translations of a commercial movie into a commercial musical that I've ever seen, with a witty score by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater and a propulsive book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner and Douglas Carter Beane."

"...Its current state has not fulfilled the promise it showed in its debut here seven years ago. Nonetheless, it has improved. With lovely performances and a rousing score, Sister Act earns its place in our good graces. It's a helluva lot of fun."

"...But you know what' Sister Act at the Pantages is infectious fun and a perfect summer entertainment meant to just let audiences sit back, enjoy the ride, and not analyze it too deeply."

"..."Sister Act" is entertaining. There is disconnect between the actors and their roles; while Sister Act is a light comedy, there is plenty of room for some much-needed character development and depth. Under Jerry Zaks' direction, having caricatures onstage as opposed to having a more grounded approach to the roles leaves much to be desired; there are moments that have the potential to be heartwarming, but end up instead muddled with superfluous acts and gestures for laughs."

"...The tunes might not be stuck in your head when you leave, but you won't forget the lead players. The one thing that will remain is the smile on your face after you leave."

"...Well, with all the changes, this touring production of the Broadway version is tops, a joyful, tuneful, splashy romp that never lets down, with a tremendous cast, stellar direction from Jerry Zaks and soulful choreography from Anthony Van Laast."

"...As musical theater history has shown us time and again, singing-and-dancing nuns are, most of the time, a reliable source of engaging entertainment. And when comedy is added to the mix… well, then, you've got yourselves one hell of a-oops, excuse me-one heck of a great show."
