During the ensuing media frenzy and confusion, a cruel archbishop seizes power in Vatican City and puts the grip on a disheartened populace. Only one man can face down this evil and bring the church back to its former glory: Pope! An adventure story of godly proportions, POPE! tells of a mythological struggle pitting good against evil, where all confrontations must be sung with gusto. Written by Justin Moran (The Spidey Project), Theatre Unleashed presents the west coast premiere of this funny superhero musical.

"...The musical numbers by Christopher Papas are excellent, with ear catching vocalizations that often break into three or four part harmonies. Every song has lyrics that create ripples of laughter across the audience (Goodbye O Ye Shameful) and they all have a little bit of a bite in their parody. Luis Antonio Gonzalez also joined in the musical direction of the show. Such inventive compositions require singers who can handle the music and the group as a whole exhibits exceptional quality and ability."

Such a show is the west coast premiere production of "Pope! An Epic Musical" now at Theatre Unleashed in North Hollywood. With book and lyrics by Justin Moran and music by Christopher Pappas, the thing flows with great rapidity, scattering site gags and ridiculous suppositions with great abandon. It's an entertainment, through and through."

The delivery was better, the gags funnier and nearly everyone "stepped up" for a great finish.
