Low-Hanging Fruit

Zephyr Theatre
7456 Melrose Ave. Hollywood

In the timely new drama Low-Hanging Fruit, four homeless women, all Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, must learn to trust each other in order to survive on L.A.'s Skid Row. After leaving the security of the service, the women found themselves unable to cope with their trauma. Bonding over their shared service, the veterans formed a private encampment they call "The Taj Mahal." But when one of the women befriends a young runaway, she breaks the group's most basic rule: no one allowed in camp but ex-military. To write Low-Hanging Fruit, Robin Bradford drew on her memories of her father's struggle with post-traumatic stress. Zephyr Theatre owner and artistic director Lee Sankowich (Moses Supposes) directs this deft blend of character-driven comedy and drama.
