Handle With Care Reviews

"...The more romantic your soul, the more likely you will be to fall in love with the West Coast Premiere of Handle With Care at Burbank's Colony Theatre. Cynics may carp, but if you're anything like this reviewer, Jason Odell Williams' cross-cultural romcom will have you believing in soul mates and destiny all the way up to its uber-romantic finale."

"...The charming and delightful cast is directed by Karen Carpenter; the scenic design by David Potts. Jason Odell Williams has written an appealing "Jewish Christmas" play. I loved watching the snow fly in the doorway each time it was opened and also seeing it coming down on the roof of the motel."

"...Through playwright Jason Odell Williams' focus on comedy and director Karen Carpenter's attention to high energy acting, "Handle With Care" is a wonderful piece of theater."

"...All in all, outside of some rough moments and cliched dialogue, "Handle With Care" is an intimate romantic comedy that underscores the meaning of Christmas while making us fall in love with the somewhat tortured yet transparent characters of this heartfelt tale."

"...Handle with Care makes no pretense of striving to be groundbreaking theater. It happily embraces the fact that it's essentially the theatrical equivalent of comfort food. We immediately know that Ayelet and Josh, both of whom are wounded, will move from mutual attraction to love. That Edna will be endearingly feisty and turn out to have a secret of her own. And that country-boy Terrence, whose career choice sprang from a chance meeting, will continue to spark the lion's share of the laughs. But the fact that you know exactly where the play is going is half the charm."

"...In short: this piece is well performed and directed."
